Denver is a young city. Every year more and more young professionals come here to see what all the hype is about. Whether it’s the beautiful sunshiny days, the hiking, or the winter sports, Denver has long been one of the best kept secrets in the country. Are you a young professional looking to move to Denver? Here are 5 of the best neighborhoods to consider living in!
LoDo (Lower Downtown)
This is one of Denver’s oldest neighborhoods, and one of the best for night life. Home to Coors Field, you’ll always be in the middle of the action in LoDo. In addition to dozens of bars, there are some wonderful restaurants and food trucks available for all types of food lovers.
Cap Hill (Capitol Hill)
Named after the gold-dome Capitol building, this neighborhood is one of the most eclectic and dense neighborhoods in Denver. You’re just removed from the Downtown area, which is nice if you want something just a little more relaxed than LoDo. If you're moving from NYC and like the dense urban vibe, Cap Hill is a great bet for you. Pro tip: only decided to live in Cap Hill if you can get a place with parking included. Otherwise, you’ll spend way more of your life looking for parking than anyone ever should.
RiNo (River North)
Just up the street from LoDo, this is one of Denver’s latest neighborhood hotspots. A vibrant art scene and murals line Larimer street, which is the main thoroughfare of this neighborhood. Some of Denver’s best low-key music venues can be found in RiNo – Larimer Lounge and Meadowlark. Looking for something a little bigger? Mission Ballroom is Denver’s latest stadium addition right in RiNo.
Uptown
One of my personal favorites. Just outside of downtown along 17th street, you’ll find a neighborhood with some amazing restaurants – Ace Eat Serve, Humboldt Fish & Farm, Sullivan’s Scrap Kitchen, and the list goes on. Uptown isn’t quiet as dense as Cap Hill, which makes it a much nicer neighborhood to live in, in my opinion.
Highlands
If you can afford it, Highlands is probably the best of all things you could want in a neighborhood. Amazing restaurants. Great bars. Close to the city. And the huge bonus here is that it’s on the west side of Denver. Generally speaking, if you’re into anything outdoors, being on the west side of the city is what you’re looking for. It might sound negligible, but shaving 20 minutes off your commute time will have your future self thanking your past self.
